Making money with domain names. Part 2
Last session we talked about buying the TLD's. Top Level Domains. These extentions are the originals of the internet and will be most likely the most sought over and fought over extentions of all.
Last session we talked about how to register a domain and also how to sell that name at Afternic.com. We also learned about how one can go to Pool and search all the domains that are expireing on any given day. If you need to refresh your memory or would like to review part 1, click here.
In this session I would like to show a few websites that you can go to and run a search on any given domain. To explain this I will give you an example.
Let's say we find a name on Pool that will be expiring in a few days. The name is a dot com, looks like a good generic name that a wide variety of sites may use. Question is, has this name been more than just a registered name?
Now here is actually where I should be selling this information in a small ebook or something. After I find a name that I think has potential for a sale, I go to the Internet Archive and check out to see if the name ever had a website attached to it or if it was just a registered name. If I see that the name actually did have a website I will then click over to
market leap and there I will check to see if the name is still in the search engines or has any links to other sites. If the name has links and some search engine placing, you can almost be sure that someone, somewhere, will be interested in buying that name.
Another example. This website, ebizaffiliates.com was one of those names. While looking for names on Pool on day I came across this one. I wanted to see if the name ebizaffiliates.com ever had a website. A quick search on the Internet Archive confirmed that it had been a website for about 2 years. Thinking that if the name was a website for about 2 years, it would have a few back links still pointing to what was the site. I then checked out market leap and found that there was still links from other websites pointing to this domain.
I was in luck. I went over to Navahost and put in a back order for the name. I sure didn't want this name to slip away. Did I mention that you can backorder a domain for $18.95 from Navahost? That also includes your registration for the domain name. The folks over at Pool offer the very same service for $60.00. So if you are intending on doing a back order, remind yourself that Navahost offers some of the most affordable registations and hosting on the web.
Another important point to make here is the fact that search engines like text. And text should contain keywords. Keywords are words that are typed into the search bars on search engines. I also look at a domain name as being a keyword. The word "affiliates" and the word "ebiz" are very highly used keywords. Ask yourself, how many times have you typed in "affiliate" or the word "ebiz, e-biz, biz"? Anybody who does any kind of online selling or promoting will tell you that
"affiliate" is one of the most used words when searching for affiliate programs online. This too is key when hunting for expired domains. Keywords within domains or part of the domain. Keywords bring domains up that much more in value and also that much more sought after.
Yes, there really is gold in domain names. Have you found yours?

Affiliate Tip. Don't take on to many affiliate programs at once. Keep your portfolio of biz-op to a minimum and work hard at them. Once they are earning their keep and only need a bit of time, then look for other quality programs.
